dcterms.abstractIndoor environmental quality descripts the indoor condition in thermal comfort, visual comfort, acoustic comfort and indoor air quality. Since the period of occupants' stay indoors is longer than ever, a range of effects on occupants was found from the past researches such as sick building syndrome, building related illness and pecuniary loss. This study investigated the indoor environmental quality in two construction site offices to compare with the recommendation of indoor environmental quality and to study the perception and acceptance of the occupants. The indoor environmental quality was measured with occupants' perception and acceptance in two individual construction site offices. The site offices were constructed in difference structure and materials such as woods and metal plates or container base. The data were collected on air temperature, air velocity, relative humidity, illumination level, sound level, concentration of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and respirable suspended particulates (PM₁₀). In addition, the occupants' acceptance to the indoor condition was collected from questionnaires during the indoor environmental quality data collection. In the results of indoor environmental quality in site offices, most of the measured indoor environmental quality parameter did not fulfilled the recommendations from governments and international organizations. However, the acceptance of indoor environmental quality from site office occupants was 100%. The accepted range of thermal comfort was 23.8 °C to 28.3 °C for site 1 and 15 °C to 16.4 °C for site 2. For the visual comfort, lighting tube with sunlight provided around 300 lux to 400 lux illumination level in site offices. The occupants accepted the sound level of 69 dB (A) to 73 dB (A) within the site office for site 1 and 70 dB (A) to 88 dB (A) for site 2. Moreover, the accepted level of carbon dioxide concentration was below 1300 ppm and concentration of PM10 was below 9000 μg/m³. In addition, regular indoor environmental quality inspection, design improvement in site office, person protection equipment are suggested to apply to improve the indoor environmental quality in site office. Thus, the health effects from poor indoor environmental quality in short term and long-term could be reduced to workers.en_US
