Abstract: | Multi-evaporator air conditioning (MEAC) systems have been under progressive development since its invention. MEAC systems owns much merits which are superior to conventional water based air-conditioning systems, such merits including high energy efficiency, or flexibility in design and installation, which attribute more utilization of MEAC systems in business or commercial buildings. Nevertheless, in MEAC system, the outdoor unit is commonly connected by all indoor units without pressure regulators, varied parameters in one indoor unit might generate coupled relationship among operational parameters in other indoor units and influence the operational performance of its parallel indoor units. Therefore, it is important to analyze operational performance of MEAC system. Since MEAC system connects a number of indoor units in parallel, which would generate comprehensive impacts. Although a number of control algorithms have been developed to study the system performance, the majority of the simulating studies were lack of experimental validation. A few experimental based studies were performed to investigate operational performance of MEAC systems, while the number of indoor units was limited to two at most. In addition, studies which paid attention to the system performance of changing operational parameters in two indoor units simultaneously in a MEAC system were still limited. In a three-evaporator air-conditioning (TEAC) system, variation of operating parameter might cause a more obvious variation to performance of each IU, or the simultaneous change of operating parameters in more than one IUs would generate further effects to system performance, it is therefore necessary to conduct an experimental based study on a TEAC system. This experimental based study is aim to analyze operating characteristics of a TEAC system. The success carried of research of project is able to offer help for better designing and controlling TEAC systems, which will save energy and get thermal comfort indoor environment as well. |
