Abstract: The objective of present research is to enhance the understanding of the literary text through examining ambiguous meanings of the words used in the literary text based on deconstructed meaning definitions where the specific properties can be recognized and emphasized in their linking with the contextual clues. The study adopts qualitative method by first carrying out a definitional analysis of the words of dual and multiple meanings from the sample literary work; then an elaborated interpretation is given concerning how the identified specific properties in the meanings of the words as data can be emphasized through being linked with the contextual clues and how the recognition of them and their being emphasized during this interpreted connection contribute to the bringing-about of literary effects and the understanding of the literary work. It is endeavoured in the study to support the assumption that the recognition and emphasis of the specific composites in a word's meaning contribute to understanding, appreciation and interpretation of the literary text. Through the analysis of the meanings of the data words, it is found that the recognition and emphasis of the specific properties in a word's meaning contribute to the understanding, appreciation and interpretation of the literary text.
