dcterms.abstractThis study reports the findings of Hong Kong English major postgraduates' English language learning motivation. Studies review that many researches are done in statistical analysis to reveal the linear correlation between pre-coded factors. Thus, in-depth investigation is relatively limited. And study of postgraduate students' L2 learning motivation is relative limited as well. Therefore, further investigation is needed. This study explores four local postgraduate students'L2 motivation prior to and after their current study. This research focuses on qualitative study on small-scale and data collected by survey and semi-structured interviews to provide the high and depth of students' L2 learning motivation instead of width and length. Research found that students'L2 learning motivation are mainly instrumental oriented however the factors affect students' L2 learning motivation did change overtime in different stages. Participants also provided some suggestions for relevant stakeholders from their personal experiences as an English language learners for many years.en_US
