Investigation of wireless charging lanes for electric vehiclesen_US
The wireless power transfer (WPT) technology gains its popularity with the development of electric vehicles, largely because of the convenience for drivers. For reducing the parking time and battery sizes, the dynamic charging, compared with static charging, has become a essential research direction. This thesis analyses the coupling theories of coils in aspects of shapes, misalignment and air gap distance. The calculation results of coupling coefficient are proceeded by MATLAB programs. It gives the considerations of designing the coils and ferrites. The power converters which are simple for hardware implementation are compared. The transformer isolated Cuk converter is proved to have an ideal efficiency and its typical topology is modeled. The design process is also given. To achieve better performance, the zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) technology is basically discussed. A simple ZVS is integrated into the converter applied, which contributes to reducing the peak times of voltage and protecting the components in the circuit. A charging system with 67.1% power efficiency in 2mm air gap situation is achieved in hardware workbench, though the load is still not well-matched. The experiment results, which are all synchronized with simulation results, give the improving measures and research directions.en_US
