dc.title | SMA based rocking column | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | This study aims to study a novel type of isolator, which applying the Shape-Memory-Alloy (SMA) to the column base with its superior self-centering feature. And the goal is to find the response of the SMA based column under cyclic load. The basic design philosophy is that inelastic deformation should be concentrated in these SMA bolts while the other component remains in elastic range. To start with, a SMA bar is studied under cyclic load in a quasi-static state. A portal frame with column of 5 meters high is used as a prototype and based on the strain-stress curve for the material property test, a proportionality coefficient of 0.656 is used to design the experiment model and the bolts at the baseboard are replaced by SMA bolts. Cyclic loading tests were conducted to column. The effective length of SMA bolts, prestress force and axial force were studied respectively. Then comparisons were made in these tests based on the moment-drift angle curve. And this column connect showed good self-recentering capability and energy dissipation capability. | en_US |
