Abstract: Climate change is one of the serious global environmental problems and it will affect both human's living environment and economic development. Due to the potential in both energy saving and thermal comfort aspects, the bed-based task/ambient conditioning (TAC) system may be one of the solutions to minimize the impact of global climate change. In this thesis, the thermal comfort standards for sleeping environment were reviewed, a field measurement was conducted for CFD validation, thermal environment of a double bedroom was simulated by Autodesk CFD, and the system performance was evaluated using PMV and EUC. Based on the simulation results, it is clear that the bed-based TAC system is an energy-efficient system with a good thermal comfort performance to be adopted in the sustainable future.
