dc.title | Thermal study of traction motors in light rail vehicles, Light Rail Division of KCRC | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | Back in early 90', the Light Rail Vehicles have been suffering from overheating problem in the traction motor. Indeed the complete fleet of the traction motors have to be rewound because of thermal overloading. This project is being proposed to find out the thermal behaviour of traction motors and to study the effect of removing the field shunt resistor upon the behaviour of traction motors. The resulting changes in traction current characteristics versus vehicle speed was also studied and the results were used as inputs to the computer simulation program to calculate changes in the thermal behaviour of the traction motor. A computer simulation program which has been developed previously are being further developed by the author for predicting the internal temperature distribution of LRV traction motors. The predicted results are in good agreement with field experimental results. | en_US |
