Leveraging selective revealing strategies and team sharing on enhancing innovativeness of small-medium enterprise logistics service providers in Hong Kongen_US
Innovativeness is an interesting topic to management scholars who look for newer concepts and ideas to describe the changing dynamics, to policy makers who see its impact on economic growth, and to professionals and practitioners whose companies could benefit (Ahlstrom, 2010). This paper leverages selective revealing strategies, modularity of knowledge base and team sharing to examine how small and medium-size logistics service providers in Hong Kong can overcome their business challenges by enhancing the innovativeness of their organizations. Focus group interviews and pilot studies were conducted on experienced practitioners in the Hong Kong logistics service industry, and a mass survey was subsequently carried out for this research. Overall, 350 respondents representing their firms and teams provided significant information and valuable feedback. Based on Discrete Choice Modeling and regression analyses, the findings of this research demonstrated that selective revealing strategies and team sharing could help to enhance innovativeness of these service providers, while modularity of knowledge base could be an option for the management to facilitate more revealing and sharing in the innovativeness enhancement process. The findings provide new insights regarding the relationship between strategic management and innovativeness, and how appropriate strategies and sharing can benefit firms in the competitive business world filled with challenges posted by innovation and technology development.en_US
