Abstract: This paper is to explore how business ethical values could impact employees' behaviour at work; the intention of lying and knowledge hiding, with the findings from existing literatures. Using a unique sample collected from a group of professionals in the private sector in Hong Kong to identify the relationship among the variables. The main objective is to demonstrate conceptualization, measurement and examine various concepts on how business ethical values have the impacts in employees' intention of lying and knowledge hiding at work. After analysing the current findings, it found that business ethical values have a certain degree of influence on the employees' behaviour towards other individuals. Our findings in this paper suggested, it is important to take note that the intention of lying and knowledge hiding do not always result in negative outcomes; white lies may occur based on one's ethical standard and belief. Furthermore, on the corporate level, ethical training helps to communicate the company values to all-levels of staffs. Yet, organization should keep in mind and respect individuals with their own beliefs and the ethical philosophers they follow, and should not control over their thoughts. Instead, creating a moral climate of the workforce is the key objective of the organization. Other theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed and recommendations are provided for the purpose of future research.
