Abstract: | Adopting a case study approach, the dissertation examines the effect of facility outsourcing in a financial institution. Reference is made to research into and the experience of similar exercises abroad and in Hong Kong. The area of transaction cost economics is considered as well as culture, cost savings and other process drivers. Detailed qualitative research has been carried out through interviews and supporting user information. The results and findings point to a need for proper planning, preparation, and provision for change management before any such exercise is implemented. The vital importance of trust, staff relations, and cost savings are emphasised. |
